How Does It Work

..

Contact Snowball Express at info@snowballexpress.org and let us know the following:

What do you want to do?

How do you wish to do it?

Who is organizing it?

What is the date and time?

How many persons are invited?

Once this information is received by Snowball Express we evaluate it and let you know if Snowball Express will support your "snowflake" event. We then find a Snowball Express supporter or organization that we have relationships with, Rotarians, Ladies Auxiliary VFW, Vietnam Veterans of America or other service groups or corporate sponsors of Snowball Express.

If the event is approved and after  we identify the SBE Coordinator, we provide the details of the event to the families via email only and have the families contact our designated "Snowball Express" point of contact and inform them of their interest to attend.  This SBE coordinator works with the event planner to make sure all of the details

We ask that organizations give us at least 2 weeks notice from the time you notify Snowball Express of your "snowflake event". This gives us time to do the things we need to do to make sure everything meets our standards and in turn the families have sufficient time to consider attending.

A few simple guidelines to keep in mind when planning:

Rule 1
Would you take your kids to it?

If isn't enough fun for your kids, it won't be fun for our kids....we want it to be fun!!!

Are there any memorials, speeches, bereavement ceremonies?

If yes, then thank you for your consideration but kids don't find that fun, sorry.  Refer to Rule 1!

Will it cost the families anything to attend?

The answer must be no.  No food costs, no parking costs, nothing, completely free to the children and spouses.

Are we required to provide gifts to the children?

The best gift is the gift of time; gifts will grow old and fade, memories never do. No gifting required but don't read this to mean they are prohibtive either. A "gift", toy or other item never replaces the memories created by meeting someone special, doing something for the first time or sharing moments with others like yourself...something these children don't do a lot of.

No speeches, no politicians with photo ops, and it must be safe.

Other ideas:

  1. Scholarships at camps this summer in which children are allowed to attend
  2. Free tickets to a circus that comes to town with VIP passes behind the scenes.
  3. Opportunities to meet sport celebrities, appropriate (parental approval) Hollywood celebrities and other famous persons to create a "memory" that will last a life time.
  4. Simple things such as a day out on a boat learning to ski, makeover for the teenage girls or surviving wives, day at the spa, being the water boy at a professional sports team practice.

More ideas than you can imagine.  Contact Snowball Express at info@snowballexpress.org
