Air Force Award Winner

Snowball Express has just received exciting news; we are the Air Force 2009 Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher Distinguished Civilian Humanitarian Award winner. We competed among all Air Force units and Command level winners and were selected as the winner. The package was submitted by Georgett Klinedinst (thanks so much!!) at the 369 Recruiting Squadron in Santa Monica, CA.

The 369th commander called today with the great news and said our package will be submitted by the Air Force for competition at the Department of Defense level. We will know the results in approximately 30 days.  Additionally, the Air Force Times will be doing an article on our selection and hopefully that will generate more press and more families will become aware of Snowball Express.  There will be a press release from the Air Force separately but until then, feel free to share this information with others verbally or include in your presentations.

We know the only reward that makes any difference is seeing the smiles, thanks and memories of the Snowball Express families. However, this recognition by the Air Force is a testament to the dedication of our volunteers in California and Texas and our incredible sponsors American Airlines, the hotels providing rooms, the transportation companies that take the families everywhere, the Intrepid, Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars, Panda Express, Oakley, TriWest, TAPS and other donors without which none of this would be occurring.  All of you should be very proud as each of you has contributed to this great honor.

We'll keep our fingers crossed in hopes that good things continue to occur and that 2000 children and parents will safely arrive in Dallas Dec 9-13.
